Decently funny, good animation. The bit with the severed Toad head was held out for a bit too long, in my opinion. Also, he joke following it didn't make much sense. Still, relatively enjoyable waste of a minute. Keep it up.

Enjoyably Done

Who hasn't submitted their first piece with dreams of making it big on the front page someday? I know I have. I applaud your tenacity; I hope you make it one day.
Onto the flash.
I think the most enjoyable part was the blend of pencil drawing and animation. The switch between the two seemed so effortless, and it barely changed the quality of the movie. I think that speaks volumes for your skills as an animator. The entire movie had a tongue-in-cheek plea that I liked.
Your voice recording was the only weak point. I don't know if it was intentional, but the quality wasn't outstanding and it was sometimes difficult to understand you (without the accent, of course :D). The background music was pleasant and not distracting.
Overall, I think that if you applied the same level of animation to a serious flash and improved the sound quality, you could definitely make the front page. Good luck to you!

Ham-head responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed the style, I really wanted to see if I could make it work and its nice to see someone picked up on it.

Your comments are very valuable and I thank you so much for taking the time to watch and review, it helps me to want to continue with my efforts. Thank you :)

Quick 'n Quirky

I like that you took a single joke and made a flash for it. Shows some commitment.
The voices were both pretty good, and I liked the animation. At the second scene, the siren did sort of drown out the investigator's speech, but I still got the joke.
I liked the fact that it was quick and to the point; no need to save this for another flash. It's like a bite-sized movie. If you could make something longer, with the same quality of humor and animation, I'd be handing a 10 out easy. Make more like this, please.

MichaelFay responds:

Thank you!

Yeah I like my jokes pretty short, sweet, and to the point.
I don't have a great microphone so my sound quality somewhat suffers.
I should have added to the description it only took me an hour because I had a lot of other work to do. Just wanted to pump the idea out, nothing fancy.

My next one I am working on should be better animated by a long shot.

Thanks again man! Feedback is awesome.

First off, while I really like the piano part at the beginning, it doesn't really feel appropriate to me. I think you'd have a much greater impact if you cut that and started with the choir hit. Speaking of the choir, I honestly have no idea what the lyrics are or are supposed to be, but it sounds like they're singing "Suck my dick." Not even kidding, that's just what it sounds like. The orchestral part is powerful and I like the triplet rhythm. The B section with the strings is beautiful and well thought out in terms of the pizzicato support section. I do think that you loop the last string part a few times too many for it to have any meaning.
Really cool, dramatic piece.

SolStomper responds:

Thank you very much for the feedback! I agree completely with the piano at the beginning being a bit out of place now that you mention it, I'll admit I rushed a bit with this song and didn't quite know what to put for the beginning. But thanks to your feedback I'll be sure to put much more direction into the composition next time!
By the way the choir IS exactly singing "suck my dick" I'm not sure if/where I have to specify that this song has bad language in it.

Really cool sounding stuff! I like the synth at :25. It's got a nice feel to it. There's also this cool pulse in the background; it sounds like the reverb on your kick, and it's just this cool swooshy feel to it. You had a good sample for the piano, and the pad in the background is simple and nice-sounding, if a little buzzy. I think my main gripe with this is that you have a great opportunity to explore a chord change after the synth comes in, but you just loop back to the beginning. For an ambient loop like this, there's nothing wrong with repetition, but I'd just love for you to surprise me with a B section to the loop.
Good sounds, good rhythm, basic composition. Cool stuff.

drew6464 responds:

Thanks for your review! It has a lot of substance, it's really informative.

I dunno if you got zero-bombed or what, but this piece doesn't deserve the rating it has. This is a great ambient chillout piece with some unique sounds and textures. Granted, you could probably halve the time of each section, but as is it works great for background music and the like. Great production value, I can tell you put a lot of time into this.

You deserve a much better score for this; I'll be looking out for your album!

WilsonMcLeish responds:

Thanks Chando,

There will always be jerks out there, but I appreciate your help in restoring my reputation. I will definitely keep you posted on my progress.
